http://www.vacuumwizard.com/hoover-tempo.html The Hoover Tempo Widepath U5140-900 vacuum cleaner review shows that this upright vacuum works great on carpets but has problems with larger particles on hardwood floors. When you use the Hoover Tempo on carpeting, the power brush spins so strongly, it feels as if the vacuum is self propelled. It does a great job cleaning carpets, and it has a wide 15 inch path, hence the title the Hoover Tempo "Widepath."

On hard flooring the spinning brush can't be turned off, so larger particles get kicked away from the suction. It does a good job with smaller things like dust and hair. Overall, you are better off using the hose to clean hard flooring.

The on board tools for the Hoover Tempo are pretty standard. There is a hose that only reaches about ten feet total with the extension wands. The tools that are include all can be stored on the vacuum. These on board tools include an upholstery brush, a wide brush, the crevice tool, and two extension tubes.

As for maintenance, this is a bagged vacuum. You need to change the bag when it starts to get full and you notice it is losing suction. The bag acts as the filter for this vacuum, although there is another small filter on the side of the vacuum. You have to buy new bags, but the filter lasts for the lifetime of the vacuum. It's also very noisy, even for vacuums, and it doesn't filter the air well.

The biggest advantage to this vacuum is the Hoover Tempo Widepath U5140-900 is quite inexpensive. It cleans up carpets very nicely so it is ideal for homes with a lot of carpeting. Because of the Widepath, it can clean a large area of carpeting in a little bit of time. I recommend this vacuum to people who are on a tighter budget, and they have mostly carpet in their home.
