i was only 3 so i dont remember well but i was actually suppose to be on that flight but we missed thank god or i wouldnt of lived another 10 and a half years :)

I was only 5 when it happened, so I wasn't really able to comprehend the damage. I was too young, but I remember my parents being absolutely devastated even though I couldn't possibly imagine something to the extent of 9/11 happening. I watched a man jump out of the Towers an t.v. and that's the most prominent part of the live footage to me. It scared me to see tht.

I was getting ready for school and just skipped through channels to see the temp outside and when I saw the tower in smoke and burning I actually thought it was a movie on and I just skipped it and then turned off the TV. Then at school they had a huge tv in the lunchroom and everyone gathered there to watch live coverage.

At work, everyone was gathered around a radio listening to what was going on.Then the Pentagon was hit. Then the United 93. As the day progressed, everyone in their cubicles had different radio stations on, and yelled out the latest speculation as to what would be hit next. Even though I was not in NYC, the sheer terror of not knowing what was next was just horrifying...was the world coming to an end? Which was EXACTLY what those bastards wanted...to shake everyone to the core.

I was watching the Early Show while I got ready for work. I heard them break from whatever they were talking about to let everyone know that a plane had crashed into the 1st tower. I recall being saddened about how many lives were probably lost as a result of a horrible accident. Then, as I was driving to work the radio intrupted to say that they OTHER tower just was hit with another plane....and remember chills going down my spine, as that sinking feeling hit that this was not an accident....

I was cutting class was at home was watching Euronews and saw one of the buildings burning it was live covereage. and as the woman was speaking i saw the other airplane crash into the other building. my first reaction was y2k bug..

For those of us in Manhattan that day, we saw the best of humanity. Everyone seemed to be searching for a way to help others. It was amazing. In Manhattan, the effect lasted for quite a while.

Your sentiment about enjoying life reminds me that, as a nation, we have yet to create a tradition commemorating 9/11, and that saddens me. I try to spend my 9/11's by deliberately choosing my favorite things to do all day, and getting the most I can out of them as a celebration of life, and a triumph over those that want it taken away from me.

I was going in to work late that day, so I was able to see the coverage as I sat on my bed, mouth agape. Once Bin Laden's name was mentioned I went online & desperately searched for a declaration, or just *anything* directly from him that would help me understand why. Once I was thinking again, that was my immediate reaction: I wanted to know why. Found a large interview (which bordered on a manifesto - likely my own inference) & sent it to work so I could print it once I got there.
