@JoaoZamae The Alarippu is traditionally the first dance piece that Bharatanatyam dancers learn and perform. It is an invocation piece, symbolising the offering of respects to both God and the audience.
The act is entirely based on rhythm and is focused on relaxing the body of the dancer, thereby relaxing her mind.The alarippu is done at the beginning of the performance. The words dont have a meaning. They just mark the time.

Can anyone tell me the name of the song accompanies this dancer.? There was a recording made of it with full orchestration...it is something I remember hearing as a child and have never forgotten. Thanks
