David sighed as he turned into the classroom. Her name is VOOM! A paperball smacked Joe right on the back of his head.
Joe held up his hand to the back of his head, as if the paperball had somehow made him bleed. He looked to the back and saw a group of jocks with their letter jackets on, snickering and pointing at him. He looked at David. "The rest of Mitchel's posse, I assume?"
David tried his best not to laugh as he took his usual seat in the front, and Joe sat next to him. "Hahaha.....um, yeah, that's them. Just be glad that's all they did to you. They've been known to really haze new kids, but you seem like you'd be stronger than them, so I think you'll be okay. Just stay away from Demi."
'DEMI!" Joe yelled, making David jump. "Ah ha! So her name's Demi, huh?" he said grinning.
David rolled his eyes as he opened his textbook. "Yes, her name is Demitria Devonne Lovato, she's 17 years old, and WAY out of your league. She also happens to be the girlfriend of Mitchel."
Joe smirked at him. "A mere technicality," he said, as the history teacher walked in.
Joe spent the entire class, thinking about Demi. Finally the bell rang, and he followed David out of the room. "Can you believe it?! A five page essay on China due tomorrow!" David groaned.
"Huh?" Joe said, still zoned out.
"DUDE!" David said, snapping his fingers in front of Joe's face. They both weren't watching where they were going again, and they both heard a WHOMP! and someone
fall.
"You're starting to make a habit of this," he heard a voice from below him muse.
"Oh no," David said, as Joe and him looked at each other.
Joe knelt down quickly. She was holding her head. "Demi, I'm so sorry, are you okay?" He leaned in close to look at her head, but as she looked up at him, he stopped. She looked at him with a scared look in her eyes, and Joe quickly pulled away and started picking up her books. "Can I walk you to class? It's the least I can do after bowling you over twice."
"Thanks," Demi said, getting herself up off the floor, "but I'm actually just going right here," she said, pointing to the class David and Joe had just come out of. "Hi David."
"Hi. BYE!" David said as he pulled Joe away.
"See you around," Joe said, waving as David pulled him towards their math class. "Hey dude, what's your PROBLEM?!" Joe said, and pulled away from David, forcing them to stop just outside of the classroom.
"I just saved your life," David sneered, and started walking into the room.
"Dude, stop," Joe said, putting his hand on David's shoulder. "WHAT are you talking about?"
David didn't speak again until they were sitting in their seats in the back. "You were going to kiss her!" he accused.
Joe shrugged. " Maybe. AND?"
David shook his head, disgusted. "SHE HAS A BOYFRIEND! "
"Yeah, who's a total lump. She deserves better than him."
"Maybe so, but SHE asked HIM out."
"WHAT?!" Joe said, quickly looking at David.
David nodded. "Trust me, everyone was surprised. They worked together on this project for Biology for a couple weeks, and next thing we know, she's asking him out in front of the whole school at an assembly that she was a part of."
"Kind of dramatic, isn't it?" Joe said, opening his notebook.
"Well, she does want to act professionally," David rationalized, suddenly perking up.
Joe didn't notice. "So," he mused, "Why do you sit in the front in one class, and way in the back for another?"
David didn't answer. "Dude?" Joe asked, finally looking up at him. He turned his head to look where David was walking, and saw a beautiful black-haired girl come walking towards them. Joe felt like offering David a tissue, he was that close to drooling.
She smiled. "Hi David, how are you? Who's your friend?"
David tried to answer her a couple times, but no words came out. She put her books down on the desk in front of him.
"Hi, I'm Joe Johnson, and I just moved here. Nice to meet you," Joe said, taking over.
She kept smiling. "Hi, I'm Selena. David and I go way back, being in all Honors classes together and in the same clubs. It's nice to meet a friend of his."
"Likewise," Joe said with a knowing smile, and Selena sat down. "Ah," he whispered, and David finally broke out of the mist he was in and looked over at Joe.
"What?!" David said.
Joe rolled his eyes. "I'll tell you later. But i'm a little upset that you kept this from me."
"Kept this from you? Huh?!" David said, completely confused.
"Shush," Joe said, as Selena was walking back toward them after she sharpened her pencil.
"Joe," David said, getting agitated.
"Later," Joe shushed him, as the class started.
