"A Crooner in The Land Of Dixie"
Larry Franco playing with his band at the New Orleans & Classics Festival of Ascona, Ticino, Switzerland
Performing dates: 26/6 - 29/6 2008

Style: Dixie / Swing

Italy

FIRST TIME IN ASCONA! This versatile and quite original Italian band led by the charismatic Larry Franco presents a repertoire that is captivating and entertaining, comprising both Italian period pieces, and classics of traditional and dixieland jazz, together with ideas derived from modern jazz; and all of this packaged with great care and presented with the typical joy that distinguishes every one of the band's shows. A group in which all the musicians except the bassist are multi-instrumentalists, able to give new color and great variety to their performances, thanks, too, to the almost unknown and altogether unusual instruments they use, such as the Washboard (brass board used in New Orleans for washing clothes), megaphone for singing (which allows for sound reproduction typical of the 30s); and accordion, trumpet, trombone, soprano sax and bass. Entertainment guaranteed!
