On January 6, 2012 Competitors came together to open the 2012 Mavericks surf season. With the surf pumping at Mavericks competitors came from the water to line up and introduce themselves to the spectators, bless the competition and participate in the ceremonial paddle out with members of the Half Moon Bay Surf Club.
