That makes sense, because now that I think about it, in CTA's early days, and up until about 2003, they had at least one or two lines that ran a combination of Overhead lines (skokie swift is the most modern example) and 3rd rail power. The Swift ran the new 3200 series cars with an overhead Pantograph, so its basically the same idea I suppose

@will107 - Trolley poles are adaptable to 3rd rail subway cars. Neat factor is that most trolleys and 3rd rail powered subway trains in the USA ran on 600Volts-660 Volts DC, so electro-mechanically with a trolley pole it's a matter of making a connection between the overhead wire and the traction motors in the trucks.

Well I was wondering if the Museum could put Trolley poles on cars that never had them, I guess that answers my question.
Hope they can do something similar to a pair of CTA 2200's and 2400's, both of which are suppose to be retired soon.

I'd LOVE to see IRM get their Philadelphia subway cars running.
the Phili car runs, just not on a regular basis. It will be running in the forth of July trolley pageant down the mine line.
