i would use these sort of things for skype but if you have to keep skype open in order to use it, that completely destroys the point.

Question: If I install the Skype-IM plugin for Pidgin, can I chat with my friends who mainly use Facebook Chat? In other words can I chat with other people even though they are using a different chat service?

Pidgin is the best, simple and reliable, not like that shit Yahoo Messenger that doesn't even work, it fails at displaying messages, what a crappy messenger, its version 10 and they didn't resolve this bug, i tried to fix it miself but it didn't work, i tried all fixes and nothing, then i decided to uninstall it completelly because it was fucking retarded so i installed Pidgin and it works, displays messages and works like a champ. Fuck Yahoo Messenger.

I used to use Windows Live Messenger but I found it always froze or crashed like Internet Explorer does. Also it is not user friendly and there was no link to call my contacts. Now I use Aim Messenger and I have had no problems with this and I use Google Talk. Which also works well. I have just started to use Instantbird which just does email texts. But Instantbird is a lot easier to use than Pidgin and uses a lot less space on the computer. Andrea.

we.l at least windows live its still the most beautiful... and have a lot more features... geez i dont know why u people r complaning about it runs more than fine in my sempron 3000+ with 512mb ram... XD
