I can't believe when i first started playing cello...this man was my inspiration, ive always wondered if he was still alive...and maybe...just maybe...i could meet the amazing cellist......and then i see this video...rest in peace...your music will always be heard around the world

Not only a great cellist, but an extraordinary human being as well.

He was definitely the best cellist of all time during his best playing years. He will always be so special to me. I heard him during his best playing years in London. He was phenominal !! He was such a generous and endlessly good human being. Always risking his life standing up for others. He gave incredibly generously to good causes. He saved so many lives. RIP
