Friend, you can't graft ANYTHING onto a DEAD branch!! Check out the branch you operated on......dead as a doorknob! It didn't split like green-wood & even the dead bark crumbled off where you cut it.....if you're just trying to define grafting, like a dictionary,OK. But no one will succeed with just your info..........perhaps you could recommend more detailed YTvideos for people who want to try it.I'm sure you don't want people to try it & fail & that's what'll happen!!!!!!!

.....I never even thought of that.I was just searching YT for a helpful demo of "cleft grafting" (grafting small diameter twigs onto large diameter branches).I have a few mature apple trees I need to "convert" to varieties that my family likes better...I guess I was a bit irritated watching someone teaching this art, who didn't appear to know much more about it than me.But now that I realize what your intention was, I feel pretty bad for criticizing your technique. My apology, & God bless you!!

Go for it ! I liked your clip!
I always wondered how to do floral arrangements!
You are so observant, and correct.
I was merely doing a quick demonstration of the concept of grafting to a generation unfamiliar with the practice.
Attention to all who would be grafters!! Make sure you only graft into a living root. This has added significance to the analogy referred to in the book of Romans 11:17 which motivated me creating this quick and very rough YTclip.
Make sure you connect or graft yourself to something that is living, if you want to grow and bear fruit.

The broad principles here are correct but the detail is lacking, and frankly I suspect that this graft didn't do well.
Fruit tree growers may wish to check out my videos on grafting apples in England which show a little more detail. Search youtube on apple tree grafting fruitwise.
PS after I showed him, my pastor used the principle of grafting in a sermon, as of course did St Paul when he spoke of Christian believers being grafted into the people of God as exemplified in Israel.

Your points are well taken...
I just wanted to let this high-tech generation appreciate the amazing art of grafting which has been practiced for thousands of years. Man-kind has always been clever! (Not always Wise... but always clever.)
