This was made for the "Future of China" conference in Washington D.C. in June 2011, in commemoration of the centennial of the 1911 Revolution. I wanted to present Hong Kong's side of the story in the development of China. This video features interviews with Jasper Tsang, Alan Leong, Audrey Eu, "Long Hair" Leung Kwok-Hung, Emily Lau and Ma Ngok.

The video was the product of the hard work of Enoch Chan, Nick Lo and Stephen Suen, who interviewed the people featured here in my absence from Hong Kong. Of course, this would not have been possible without the generosity of the remarkable individuals that took time out of their busy schedules to share their thoughts with us.

(Due to the great amount of material we got from these interviews, I'll be putting out a second video in a few weeks on what patriotism means in the Hong Kong context and the recent debates on national education. Look out for it!)

  • script written by dumb ass yankees and perform by yankee's doggies.

  • although i may not necessarily agreed with some of the things Audrey Eu did in the past, she is quite eloquent in this interview.
