If I had to list a music type that the Christian Church 'created', it would be Gregorian chants. . .and those have not changed for hundreds of years, because the Church didn't really spend a lot of time encouraging widespread creativity. The chants filled a purpose, and the Church was fine with that.
The main reason why a lot of masses have been written for Christianity is because, during the periods when this music was being written, the Christian Church still had a considerably strong influence in the realms of art, science, etc. In short, they were the big employers, and they wanted masses. So, masses were written. That does not mean the Christian religion 'owns' the music in any way.
Today’s churches are too shitty to have been existing and posessing THIS music as their heritage. Bach’s music is the Church of Universal Reconciliating Art. Scriabin’s music is the Church of Universal Mystico-Ecstatic art. What do you want else? Why bow to stone statues, kiss crosses or babble senseless prayers when it’s infinity times better just to switch Bach on?!

Christianity has the best music of any religion.
You can make an argument for Celtic or Rasta, but when you listen to the stuff written for masses 1650-1800, they both pale in comparison.
Sad, too. Imagine what Bach would have written if not for a church.
