As seen on Univision T33.
Due to economic problems the education of many Californian children, & more, is at risk. Also at risk are those children receiving care in child care. The $335 million in cuts to child care in June was not enough for the legislature. For the New Year, they're on the verge to promise to remove even more funds. Without thinking how that affects parents, children & workers.
Now the governor & California lawmakers authorized $23 million in cuts to subsidized [child care] service. Debbie Macdonald, Executive Director of YMCA Childcare Resource Service, estimated that at least a thousand children will lose access to child care & many of these child care centers will be closed. According to the YMCA, these cuts could take place in February, & the biggest fear is that having no subsidy for child care will force many low-income parents to stop working.
