Video of the Glenview Civil War 2009 Reenactment. I tried my best to make a nice little video but most of my footage was ruined because a Union kid in red keeps getting up after he was shot and keeps fighting, only to be shot again, and then to get up again, all while only a few feet from the crowd and my camera. Why do some of my fellow reenactors do this, especially when on such a small field and while wearing red. This isn't a game of neighborhood game of war between kids, we are putting on a show, one that should make people realize what these men went through.

  • in the red was roy brown and he over did his acting that weekend

  • I'm not sure the term 'acting' should be used for what he did.

  • You should have told that kid in red to stay down. I agree, it's horrible what farbs are doing to reenacting, espically if they are going to be in from of spectators. Makes me ill just watching it and looking at pictures of farby units.

  • Well, my unit was already dead on the field when this kid decided to get back up so we couldn't really have said anything. I think the biggest problem is that the real reenactors like us have gotten so fed up with these types of events that we don't show up in mass to them anymore, which leaves an open field for the dismounts to turn it into a cowboy shootout. They are also able to recruit like crazy at them given how many people still show up to these ones.

  • @WLM113005 What I tried to portray apparently didn't read well. You fail at one thing, and move on. Btw, I believe you're with Orphans Brigade correct? I'm actually glad to see you guys out in the field. I don't reenact anymore, and a big reason is because I didn't have the money to upgrade my whole kit, I could barely find time to make it to immersion events, and I was getting tired of these mainstreamer events (hence why I probably didn't take my attempted portrayal into consideration)

  • @WLM113005 Well Maybe if this were a bigger event, I, yes I, would have done something different. Glenview is such a small field, nothing here looks realistic AT ALL. Its a skirmish field, not a field you move in formation over. Yes, I agree, I could have changed my actions in getting wounded, but I was just trying to keep things going. Plus also, I tried to have it read one time of just incapacitaion from a dud bullet hitting a belt plate, or not puncturing the uniform (which did happen)

  • i agree with you i heard when we were done about him
