I bought myself a new toshiba laptop a while ago and it came with vista and I hadn't heard anything good or bad about it yet so I thought I would try it and when I brought it home I turned it on and after I set it up I went to update and I got a blue screen so I called Microsoft and bitched them out for having such a shit product and that from now on I'm using ubuntu and I have been using ubuntu now for 2 years and not 1 problem. If I had the money I would buy a Mac but I don't so ubuntu it is

Chris, I agree with you 1000% about the XP and now have lots of choices senario! lol

Vista runs way to many Service nearly twice as many as XP and it makes the difference.
You need to get down to about 30-36 services running at one time to get the actual speed of Vista
SP2 is twice as fast as SP1 with more security and can be cleaned.
I'm not against other OSes because I never used them and have alway's used Windows!
"Turn Off AutomaticUpdates for faster browsing".

@Pikatwig Because it's pretty much proven that on most systems it's slower than most if not all web browsers out there.

@acekiller121 So the 2 years you've used it were with Leopard and Snow Leopard I hope?
-
@fakemanoan That's why you haven't had any problems.

I just started using Vista 1 month ago and have NO problems with it.

@chunksloth UAC pops up for JAVA's update manager during startup. It's a notification on the system tray. Fine WHEN installing Java, but not for TELLING ME "Hey, there's an update for Java."
