i would say any USB storage is going to last, hard drive is part of it

You could also buy archival DVDs

haha, I just found 17 cd-r:s that I had burned about 6 years ago when I was 11... hilarious :D anyways, only one of them doesn't play well (rather because of scratches than aging)

that sounds shit.. how many did you lose? must have pissed you off
i'll never trust optical media for archival purposes again

they are pressed discs, they are a different beast

i noticed recently a dvd-r (8x white faced printable traxdata ritek go5 brand burned at 4x speed) had a weird looking cloudy dispersment on the data side.. it is no longer readable
i'm working on a migration plan to get the rest of my dvds onto hard disk drives.. optical media is bullshit .. noticed a few of my discs of 2 to 3 years old have lots more pie and pif in recent quality tests.
anyone any idea on how long verbatim 16x silvers burned at 4x generally last?

Just get to Velociraptor 300GB drives and config them in RAID1... :P
When you use RAID1, data writes to both drives equally, thus you have a live backup of the drive you are running your OP on. So if one fails, then it will be as if nothing has gone wrong since the second drive will run as your main drive. :D
fuck google ads! (thumbs up to that!)
