NOTE TO SELF: XYG AUTOGLASS DOES NOT CARE ABOUT QUALITY OR CUSTOMERS. XYG makes crap glass. They said they would replace it (glass for free, installation and other materials on my dime). They call a distributor (or so they say) and set it up for them to contact me. A week and a half later now and no call. Driving this car in the wet is a safety hazard since it's difficult to see through the water left on the window because the wiper can't remove it due to the sunk in glass. I even swapped the wipers to show that the wiper on the driver side is great on the passenger side. So another local installer is getting my business and I'm having a different, higher quality glass put in. After that, the car can safely be used in wet weather. It's a wonder that XYG is allowed to continue doing business with this kind of product and customer relations. I wish I had a better camera to give a higher quality presentation, but I don't. I'm going to show the installer all the issues so I'll have a witness in case anyone tries to call me on bad publicity or libel. I'm tired of getting jerked around and so I'm documenting as much as I can.

  • the PGW that was installed in my Ford is still light years better than that XYG crap. The hard part about getting Carlite for Fords is that finding an installer that can actually source it on short notice is rather hard. PGW is still pretty good glass and is also less expensive than Carlite (by a good margin - about double the margin that PGW is more expensive than XYG - did the research).

And silicon wiper FTW! I wish they would make low profile premium wipers available locally.

  • ive been a installer for 18 years that can happen to the best glass companys. who ever installed it should replace it for free. most likley the next one will be fine.even ppg or pilkington can have this problem. overall i personally like pgw. or pilkington. just make sure the company that installs your glass has a warrente on there products. p s most glass installed in your car from the factory is from china or mexico

  • @TheLisasman

Mexico for these old cars. They were made before the big Chinese outsource.

XYG is also the only glass I've seen delaminate between layers like this one did as well. The flat spot was the worst of it, but I've never seen Carlite, PGW (PPG), or any OEM glass on domestic cars (USA) do that. This XYG glass was installed before I bought the car, so I could not get it replaced by the original installer.

  • @TheLisasman

Also, I contacted XYG and they claimed that they would pay for new glass but I would have to pay the labor. They supposedly contacted a supplier near me that would install the glass, but after 2 weeks and no further contact from either party and repeated attempts from me to get them to honor what they said, I said to hell with them and got a local installer to put in PGW and it's been great ever since. Since XYG blew me off, to hell with them.

  • safelite is giving me a runaround and i've read they force XYG on you. i've been arguing with my insurance and its really frustrating, i asked to use my own shop and they said the fair and reasonable for my windshield is 295 INSTALLED. YEA RIGHT. the only way thats possible is with cheap shitty XYG glass.

  • had PGW glass installed on my ride for under $200. Find another installer.

  • stay away from xyg glass its total rubbish and I've been fitting car glass for years it should be banned

  • xyg is the worst glass i have ever fitted in 28 years it is total rubbish

  • Just request PGW, Pilk, Sekurit, APtech, AsahiJapan, Libby, Carlite/lex with out the car manufacturer name. So if you drive a BMW ask for Sekurit, MB Sekurit/PPG, Ford Carlite, Mazda Carlex, Acura/Honda APtech-- etc. Do your research

  • XYG is CRAP! Geico installed that shit in my car. I told them to get me OEM glass that day or I was going to remove the XYG..with a baseball bat! Same thing..distorted,foggy when cold..just a cheap piece of shit. How they got DOT certified is a fucking wonder. Safelite did come out and replace it with OEM glass, but I had to stop their payment with American Express to get their attention.
