Shooting a laser-measured 200 yards with my back to the target, using a mirror for sighting, Ruger 10/22 with open sights and stock magazine. I posted the entire setup and shooting portion, 10 shots, just to illustrate this wasn't faked.

I added a touch of orange paint on the front sight post. Due to the setup, my left thumb was the "trigger finger". Target is 18" x 24" diameter steel plate, 3/8" thick, from Mike Gibson Targets. There is a remote camera on the ground, positioned to the left of the target for picture-in-picture effect. If you follow firearms history, this type of trick shooting was very popular many decades ago with the likes of Annie Oakley, Wild Bill Hickok, and others. There are a few shooters continuing the tradition today.

THIS SHOULD ONLY BE ATTEMPTED BY THOSE PROFICIENT IN FIREARMS HANDLING AND SAFETY. Also, as with all target practice, you must have an adequate backstop and understand the capabilities of your firearm and ammo. As is the case with 99% of my videos, I was the only person "on the set". Filmed on remote private property.

  • I have accidentially removed someone's post from the past couple of days. They commented along the lines of concern about hitting the remote camera with a mirror shot. My apologies, I was trying to respond that I had that concern as well, which is why the camera was parked behind a thick tree, and at an angle that I should not have been able to shoot toward given that tree and others in the path.

You would think I had never used the REPLY function on YouTube.....duh.

  • is that at your house there?

  • @redneck500

Not here, this an hour from the house. My parents own this tract.

  • How long did you practice that?!

  • @BeanDip0913

About 10 minutes before this attempt, I had 2 or 3 hits on a practice run of 10 shots and determined this was indeed possible. I then setup the remote camera and let it rip for what you see here.

  • If you didn't have to put up with all the drama bull crap I would say you'd be a great candidate for Top Shot. Who needs Top Shot though when we have tnoutdoors9 : )

    Nice shooting brother

  • Very impressive!

  • @gbtayc

    don't bother to answer

the answer popped into my head shortly after writing that

    Why not

  • Very impressive

    But why

  • I'm looking at your video and am wondering how you say your left thumb is the trigger finger, although the view I'm getting shows your left thumb on the mirror and right thumb on the trigger - was the camera pointing at a mirror, too? Thank you for all the videos of gun & ammo testing!

  • I think what happened was the third shot (first hit) struck the target and some shrapnel hit the bolt. Look close

  • nice shooting

  • you need to be on top shot!

  • very very cool....I posted a video of my first day trying to shoot with a mirror. I hit a plate with a .22 cal air rifle at 15 yards. and a 12 oz bottle with the same air rifle at 28 yards. my other trick shots are shooting 2 cans that I threw and a Quarter that I threw with a .22 mag and .22 hand gun. There will hopefully be more to come. PS I like your modestyl

  • nice video. I can't wait to see more .22 LR ammo gel testing!
