Greece, Thailand have set the bar pretty high for effective protest. I would say a nationwide general strike would also be an option, also State succession / State nullification are options. Texas is a bit ahead on that front

There is no way the federal Govt would allow a state to succeed. I don't see that happening.

I also think comparing the US to Greece or Thailand is like comparing apples to oranges.

I wish the tea party people the best, but in the end I think that it's just a waste of time. When I look and see politicians showing up at many of these events it made me think this is just another protest. Nothing special.

If a State has a referendum and it passes then that will be it, the state is out of the union. If the feds move in with guns and bombs, that will just cause more states to get out. Once the majority of states our out, the federal government will blow away like dust in the wind. Quebec came very close to doing it in Canada. Also, there is a proposal in the NY state legislature to have a referendum on splitting the state into 2 states basically upstate would succeed from downstate.

States don't need to succeed... This is about Government getting bigger and controlling the peoples "rights." if people don't stand up then NOTHING is going to be done and the government will just get bigger and bigger, until you won't even have the right to talk about this on here.
