(585) 621-7029 | Rochester, NY - hardwood floor installation, repairs, restoration, sanding, refinishing, Hi, my name is Lance Testa.

I am with Quality Hardwood Flooring of Rochester, NY.

In this video we are going to address three mistakes that people make when shopping out

for hardwoood floors.

The biggest mistake would be the contractor. You need to do your reseach on the

contractor.

You need to find out if he is insured, what insurance they have, how much coverage they

have, their customers list - and I am not talking about friends and family, you should be

looking at other customers and projects that they have done over the years - a body of

their work, may be some pictures, some reference.

Also the employees that they have. You could ask questions like "How long have they been

with you" and so on. Ask some personal questions- they are going to be in your home!

Another big mistake that people considering hardwood flooring projects make is they don't

shop out the product. A product is important - there are hundreds of different kinds of

flooring - pre-finished, un-finished, there are different wood species - Brazilian

walnut, there is hardwood from Japan, American hardwood... All these things need to come

into play when you are getting ready for your hardwood flooring project.

Another mistake that people make is estimating the conditions. It is important to

consider where you are putting your hardwood floor: Is it in a beach home? or in a home

that is in the area that gets a lot of snow in the winter and a lot of salt is used? do

you have kids? do you have pets?

These are all things that you need to take into consideration because different hardwood

flooring reacts differently. Your hardwood flooring contractor should be able to answer

all of these questions.

I can be reached at 585-621-7029 and I am in Rochester, NY.

Thank you for watching.
