Can anyone PLEASE tell me if I am hallucinating or if this is the same "Leaping Lanny Poffo" / "The Genius Lanny Poffo" from WWF/WWE who used to team w/ "Mr. Perfect Kurt Henning" back in the 80's and early 90's

I think that's part of the point. If he did "care," he'd probably belt it out of the park. However, since he's pondering about how he'd react "if he didn't care," it's totally appropriate to talk the whole way through. Plus, he's entertaining and getting a bunch of light-hearted laughs.
