Cool hand in trying to open eyes to reality,Ian!!!-I feel truth=integrity,few people can handle it. The ones that do listen to you. @AlexW15,I was having phone issues&could not answer you when you asked me to,sorry about that.
I will,&have supported many Musicians,personal friends&acquaintances,personal favorites I have not met,Those that I work with,and myself through evolving&exploring different sounds. That is essential to our spiritual growth,each individual journey taken in this respect is PURE. I don't expect everyone to have this ability,much less truly EMPATHIZE. If you don't accept change in YOUR mind or heart,I'm sorry for YOU.-&anyone around you,Lord help you.
IN THE BEGINNING...I fell in love with his soulful 'chicken-fried' rock. 'Blue Sky' helped me through the time of losing my father. Wonderful music! That being said, I don't really 'get' his music anymore. See, it isn't my job to 'get' it, nor is it Ian's job to remain stuck in the same old thing, for MY pleasure. His job is to share what the Good Lord puts in his soul, and to be true to himself! He clearly has done that. I have all the respect for him, AND his decisions. ROCK ON, MY BROTHER!
3/3: Just because you know the first two albums word for word doesn't mean that Ian Moore owes you anything except an appreciation for your support early in his career. He has moved on. Why can't you?
2/3: They (the new fans) may not rush out to purchase the first 2 CD's because that style is not what attracted them to Ian, but they at least have an appreciation for Ian's craft as displayed on them. I'll never understand why "fans" feel like they have ownership of an artist if they were "there from the beginning".
Think about this: There are a TON of current Ian Moore fans that have never experienced the first two albums. They don't know "that Ian". Guess what? They love his stuff anyway. You think they are disenchanted or feel betrayed once they learn that Ian used to play exclusively Texas Blues Rock??? Of course not! They have an appreciation for the artist and his art.
@jbage007 you don't know ian...that's not what he's like at all. He's a good man. -What a lot of you fans don't get is when this CD came out....not long prior to that he has lost his mother!!!! -so, his early songs are full of pain. But he's married and happy with two great kids! I'm happy for him that he's happy and not in pain!!!! you should be, too! btw, he's re-leasing his 3rd CD & the August concert series will be nothing but music from first 3 CD's!!!!
Ian and the original band will be doing 6 shows next month in Texas and Oklahoma, focusing on the 1st 2 records. For those of you that miss this phase, this is the time. dates posted @ ianmoore.com
I love many styles of music. I love Ian's 1st two CD's and "All The Colors". Can't get into the rest. I saw him in Houston a couple yrs ago. His crowd (and his music) is all yuppie college kid crap (IMO). Even when he does Muddy Jesus now, he talks the lyrics ala Beck (not Jeff). I'm all for not being pigeon-holed, but his middle finger to the record companies affected his fans more than anyone. Now, record companies barely exist anymore, but Ian's still catering to the indie underdogs.
Ian still rocks when was the last time you caught his live show... I am a fan off the first two records and green grass he is very talanted he should not be boxed up into one form off music there are lots of differant lagueges for him to speak...I would welcome a blues rock record again no doubt that is my favorit style Ian plays but there is room for it all...
I have a love/hate relationship with Ian, I love his 1st 2 albums, I also love that he stood up to the record companies that wanted him to churn out the same music over and over. But I hate the fact that he has disowned his 1st 2 albums and seems hellbent on making music that is the antithesis to that. Bruce Springsteen was in a similar situation and managed to please both factions with ease. Ian could have been a superstar and maintained his artistic integrity if he had followed the Boss
I have not listened to Pearl jam since the "Ten" album. I don't follow a band because of what they "were", I follow them because of what they "are". It is like Ian is now letting a woman do his thinking for him. His music no longer has the power it used to. It reminds me of Peter Green after his bad acid trip. After that he was ruined. Why listen? Out of pity? People don't want to hear Ian unplugged or weeping. They want to hear him rock. He is letting his gift slip away. It's really sad.
Yea, I get what you're saying but I just wish that more ppl would look at the actual talent a person has. What I mean by that is, a musician that writes his/her own music and lyrics, is a better artist in my eyes than some yahoo who just gets onstage and performs what was written for them...Besides Mr. Moore, theres Silverchair and Pearl Jam. Those bands have changed thier styles over the yrs and still have a huge following...just goes to show:)
@boldlynuts9, I know you well& we agree

Ian Moore has become the poster child for an extremely talented musician can make himself totally irrelevant
and it's all because of his own hard-headed extraordinary arrogance
what a waste
