Remember when working for MTV was cool? Not anymore. Aging parent Viacom recently shafted approximately 14,000 employees—some of them with a decade at the company—by suddenly drastically reducing or removing a huge amount of benefits. Viacom's position is that these people are "freelancers." Yeah, freelancers work 40-70 hours a week, have work spaces and e-mail accounts. The cost to works is going to be about $6,000 per person. It's a joke. And yet some jerk in this video has the nerve to chastise the outraged workers by taunting them that at least they have a job. Nobody deserves to be told, "I'm taking AWAY benefits. Suck it up," and nobody should be expected to react with loyalty and industry and a grin. BOO MTV. boyculture.typepad.com

What's really interesting is that this wasn't really news. I mean, newsworthy, just not media broadcast. My only suggestion is you put a girl with big boobs as the screenshot and say something stupid in the title so that more people see this. And I'm being serious, more people need to see this and if that's what it takes then so be it.

Thank you for posting this video; I had no idea. Your notes are excellent explaining the situation. I agree, working for MTV "used to be cool, not anymore!"
Shades of the old days when we protested in the '60's. Good luck to you all, MTV-ers! You deserve it! Full time benefits for full time work... how could this NOT be provided?
Keep up the good work!
