I have one and she is one of my best friends, but like any dog its how they are raised. but I trust mine, I don't have kids yet but my sister does and when they come to see me once or twice a year she is not mean at all, even when they pull and tug and drive her nuts. she just looks at me like "Help" but never do to make me worry about her hurting them. GREAT DOGS.....

I COMPLETLY DISAGREE that they are not good with children and not family dogs. I have three, only one I got as an young puppy, the others at 6mo and 1 1/2yr. They are GREAT family dogs, very loving, and great with kids.

i pass by one every morning with my alaskan malamute, the shar pei sounds like its having trouble breathing when it barks at my dog, and does this panting/snorting sound that sounds like a pig, idk i dont really like this breed that much, too odd looking for me, but thats just my opinion
