This is so sad, I hope she and the other victims went quickly. Actually firefighters made it up to the 78th floor of the South Tower, to the impact zone, but the tower collapsed before they could go any higher. No firefighters ever reached the 83rd floor :( There was one stairwell in the South Tower, stairwell A, that was open, but sadly many victims did not know of it or weren't able to find it due to the smoke and fire. I hope those terrorists are burning in hell now for what they did.

@mynameisseals true i realized that later its unclear if this happened prior or after

@SoJustCool Unfortunately this is a discrepancy - unless Melissa's mother, Evelyn, can confirm this. You must listen to the entire phone conversation (much of it is censored) though you will clearly hear the operator constantly yelling her name "Melissa...Melissa..." then the operator mentioning it was believed Melissa was unconscious as heavy breathing could be heard and no word of any firefighters. We'll never know :-( perhaps Melissa was dragged out? God bless her and the hundreds of others

firefighters eventually found her but her and the fire fighters died making thier way down when the building collapsed :(
-
@SoJustCool yep...i found it on the internet about 6 months after it happened...it's no where to be seen now...i can see why they would edit that part out...
-
@TheBlackOil1 it's sad, but what you said is true..they didnt know what was going on at the time.
-
@MrLadyjack really? when, where, how did you hear of it?
-
one fact that is hardly mentioned is that fire fighters did reach her on the 83rd floor, and got her to the stair well and she called her mother by cell phone to say she loved her. she was on the 44th floor by that time that she called her mom, but unfortunately she didn't make it. how many times i wish i could press a rewind button for 9/11 not to have happened, i can't tell you. tragedy. i just hope there is a heaven.

I just watched a "911 was an inside job" vid today and during it the commentator said that nobody in the towers mentioned the heat in there. Fuckers. R.I.P. Melissa.

@shimokita2 I thought the operator did a fantastic job in this recording. Even though she knew Melissa could not be helped, she wanted to provide comfort to her in her last few minutes. If you were in Melissa's shoes on that day, would you rather the operator saying simply... "You're going to die"?
This makes me feel so sad. That poor woman. I cannot even imagine what the last few minutes of her life were like, it must have just been unspeakably horrible. I just wanted so badly to reach in there and pull her out of that nightmare. Rest in peace, Melissa.
