What this was is a classic case of target fixation. It was not intended to be a touch and go, the pilot throws a marker on the X in the right of frame which is why the spectators raise their hands, while focused on the target he forgets to manage his rate of decent as well as downwind obstacles. He would be deducted points for landing in the target area, you can see that he is raising his hands with success as he hits the ground.

@cptjackzb : I didn't see no bumper get tore off. Looks like they was a lawn chair setting there and the balloon basket knocked it into the cars. The pilot shoulda had some rope made into a lasso that he could throw out to hook a car or tree and not get blowed away.

I'm thinking both you and Don need to put your glasses on. A nice touch and go does not include dragging the basket across the hood and smashing the windshield.

Don't blame spectators for not getting involved in something they know nothing about. The pilot should have his OWN ground crew for that, not to mention know how to land a balloon for Christ sake.
