Our programs clients have fled from political, religious, ethnic, and gender-based persecution in countries plagued by human rights violations. They cannot afford counsel and desperately need representation. Volunteer lawyers learn about international human rights law and have the chance to represent individual clients at an asylum interview or a hearing before an immigration judge.

Obviously you have not been in a situation where you have had to flee the country of your birth. I am not attacking your views because you are entitles, having said that, as an asylum seeker you main aim, is to relocate to a country where as an individual you will be able to sustain yourself and the US is one of the countries that provide that opportunity. If you are approved, the seeker is expected to gain employment, pay taxes etc.
