@TURBOPossum what has engine failure in IMC got to do with anything.
Instrument gliding is what it is. You don't need a chute just beacuse of engine failure.
Also Stalls are not random events that just happen for no reason like turbulence. They happen because pilots let them happen.
Fly the thing properly and then the parachute isn't a must.

And @tauheke
The BRS is useful for two things- Irrecoverable Spins, and Engine failure in Hard IMC. A good forced approach procedure isn't going to help if you don't break out of cloud until 300'AGL.
Also, in response to your 'being dragged through the treetops' comment - I would much rather be dragged through the treetops at 25 knots, then plunging through them at stall speed. There isn't always a clearing available within gliding distance.

A lancair evolution would do the same job without the extra fuel burn and price. This 7 seater is a project already dooomed to fail.

Ok so this is the point. Only people who don't know how to fly think that killing the engine is certain death. If your engine dies, it is not the end of the world.
ANYONE with a pilots license would have done a landing with zero engine torque. And you do that as a beginner. Same goes with spin control. You need to learn how to spn so that you can learn how to get out of it. Traning people, technology is not a replacement for good training.

@tauheke That is what I am trying to tell you, it is not better than the alternative.
I can kill the engine on any prop plane and glide it down with more safety than if I had a chute. The chute is dangerous and knowing how to glide approach is safer. Of course if your going to fly the thing unqualified then you don't need a Rocket chute, you need a priest.

@gmanzeroalpha. Thanks for that, I meant if we could one day have chutes as common as airbags in cars it would be great.
It's probably pie in the sky at this time that all sizes of aircraft could one day have some sort of chute system regardless of the landing it would be somewhat assuring to know it's better than the alternative. Cheers
"The low millions" i thought all millions were high :/

The BRS I hope and other systems like it will one day become standard in all aircraft, like black boxes etc... similar to airbags in all cars.
Imagine in the future, people not wanting to travel in a plane unless had a 'chute' system.
Well here's hoping anyway.
