How to harvest a LOC diode from the LPC-815 sled.

The stomach acid of a cat will break down the sled metal but will not affect the copper of the diode itself. You simply stuff the sled in a small sardine and feed it to your cat. Later you visit the litter box every day and wait for your diode to appear. It works great! Sometimes it gets caught up in a hairball within the cats stomach. If this happens, then you have to wait for your cat to cough up the hairball.

What did you use to set the diode recessed into the Aixiz housing? It looked like just a part of a pen. Or was it a press tool?

they made them much harder to open now. The metal is said to be harder, and the heatsink completely covers the diode all besides a tiny hole.

I constantly find myself referring to your videos for reference, tutorials and information. I'd be nowhere if it weren't for ppl like yourself! A million thanks Moh!

@paulnlaurie1 An Aixiz module is a part used to hold and collimate the diode.

You can use anythign that will cut the heat sink. Just be sure to go slow and be precise. Avoid excessive vibrations as well. These things have dropped so much in price it's really not a big deal anymore to ruin one. They use to be around $20 ea, but now you can get them for anywhere from 5-8 dollars each.

Yes that's completely normal, thats why they are called "Open can" diodes. while the ones with the silver caps are called closed can.
