This is a short clip that demonstrates the reason as to why I fitted an Autometer rev counter to one of my cars - besides liking the look of it.
The standard tacho has a wildly inaccurate needle that makes it hard to judge what the actual engine speed is - while the air-core Autometer is always spot on, regardless of any changes in engine speed.
The shift light also makes it much easier to focus on driving without having to constantly check the gauges (although you can usually judge from the noise), which comes in use on hard takeoffs or changes - plus, as the gauge is usually mounted more in your line of sight when looking ahead, it means you can focus on the road and not have to glance down at the instrumentation.
I will definitely be buying more Autometer gauges for my next project, as besides doing the job well they have a very high standard of build quality.
is that a dolomite sprint?

@dahorn100011 Indeed it is. I believe it'd been previously built up for road rallying (twin front calipers, performance cam, uprated suspension) when the previous owner got bored and sold it on. I only put the Autometer in it as I happened to have it around at the time...

@dahorn100011 ...that and because the orginal tach was so erratic. The little 16-valve motor would really spin up quite quickly in gear, so the new tach and shift light came in handy!
