  • My mom bought me the first two books and gave them to me on my 18th birthday. It has since become my absolute favorite series of all time.

Go ahead and read the last three ;) You'll love em. Jamie and Claire are always always fun.

  • I'm now reading the series and am enjoying it thus far. I wanted to make mention that although we frown upon an adult woman being spanked by an adult man... we have to remember that this book is based on 18th century culture. It was a very different time... a very violent time. I think we forget that because it's being written by someone in present day. You are pretty awesome and really enjoyed your video!!

  • I'm in love with the Outlander series, it was recomended to me by a worker at Books A Million. I was trying to find some books that were like Nicholas Sparks (another obession) and she told me that these books had her hooked. Thank goodness for her because I would have never known about them and they are a true gem. I just wish she was able to crank out more sooner but with all the historical facts I'm sure is very time comsuming.

  • My grandma first made me read these books when I was 14. Yeah, I'm 20 now. No worries! There are lots of young people just as obsessed. (:

  • I am 20, and I LOVE the Outlander series. Completely understand your enthusiasm. LOL. I was 16 when I read the first book, which I think was a bit young, but I just happened upon it and then I was hooked.

Hope you enjoy the rest of the series!

I've been reading nonficiton bio/ memoirs (just finished Furious Love, about Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton pub before Elizabeth died) and Elizabeth Peter's Amelia Peabody series, which is basically "Jane Austen meets Indiana Jones."

  • Totally agree with the "crack" comment!! And you read 2/3/4 in 4 days....wow!? I soooo understand! Go for 5/6/7 and join the purgatory (awesome as it is) for the wait for 8.... Enjoy!

  • I second Carol's comment--you MUST read 5/6/7 and video after each one! Trust me, you will not regret it. Great video--LOL re: "100 percent crack"--SO true!

  • Outlander is my No 1 all time favorite. But since you asked, my number 2 book recommendation/series is THE BRONZE HORSEMAN by Paullina Simons. By all means finish Outlander, then meet Alexander. They are sooooo very different yet soooo very hot. Then you will have two men to obsessed over. Read slowly, your journey has just begun. Enjoy!!!

  • This series is amazing and very addictive! Not only are there 7 books currently in the Outlander Series, but Diana Gabaldon also wrote a spinoff series that coincides with Outlander called The Lord John series. They can be read after the 4th book in Outlander. There are 3 books with a 4th due to be released 11/29/11. AND there is a a short story in a book called Songs of Love and Death that tells the story of Roger MacKenzie's parents. Plus the Outlander Companion. Have fun reading!

  • You're making me want to reread this once again. I burned through the series in the space of 2 weeks my first week of college.

Also, read... um... Winter Sea? Takes place in Scotland, too!
