Ti geli tevha rimjhim

This clip has been taken from the 'Shabdanchya Palikadle' which was a wonderful program on DD. The song is 'Ti Geli Tevha Rimjhim' written by well known poet 'Grace'. Its about the situation when a mother dies. Beautifully composed and sung by my favourite music director Hridaynath Mangeshkar. You can identify the pain when you listen to the song. One of my all time favourites.

ती गेली तेव्हा रिमझिम, पाऊस निनादत होता
मेघांत अडकली किरणे, हा सूर्य सोडवित होता

तशि सांजहि अमुच्या दारी, येऊन थबकली होती
शब्दांत अर्थ उगवावा, अर्थांतुन शब्द वगळता

ती आई होती म्हणुनी, घनव्याकुळ मीही रडलो
त्यावेळी वारा सावध, पाचोळा उडवित होता

अंगणात गमले मजला, संपले बालपण माझे
खिडकीवर धुरकट तेव्हा, कंदील एकटा होता

हे रक्त वाढतानाही, मज आता गहिंवर नाही
वस्त्रांत द्रौपदीच्याही, तो कृष्ण नागडा होता

Some of the viewers have commented saying that the song has a different meaning. Well, I haven't seen the CD by Grace but if the poet himself says that there is a misconception....who are we to dispute that. But as ReignForrest has said, i prefer to misinterpret the song.

Very emotional song, the meaning,vocals,music and expressions are all very good !! noticed that Pt. Hridaynath gets bit emotional himself while singing 'ti aai hoti ..', but laughs away to hide his tears .. I had once seen him in Sarja Hotel in Pune (which is owned by Lata Mangeshkar) .. a very simple man but what a great artist !! i am hooked on this song for last few weeks and cant stop coming back here again and again.
