  • if she still alive she will puff a cigarette on JAMES WOOD-

  • I've never heard a straight man talk about Bette so well. Hmmmmm...

  • Woods is basically right I think: insofar as the idea of 'best' among film star actors makes sense so that *someone* has to be given the top slot, to that extent it's Davis (possibly by a healthy margin). And Now Voyager is a phenomenal film.

  • Although I agree with James Woods on a lot of what he says, he perhaps needs to refresh his memory of Katharine Hepburn in 'Summertime', a raw, visceral performance that is every bit as good as Bette's....heartache, passion....the emotion transcends mere mechanics and craft. Let's not squabble over who is best...it degrades both us and the actors we love and admire!

  • Hyperbole much, James? Bette Davis was ONE OF the greatest actresses of all time, certainly light years beyond James Woods, but certainly not "THE greatest". With so many great actors working prior to 1950 alone, it's virtually impossible to single any one actor out in that way. Now if you want to see one of Bette's finest, most understated performances, check out All This And Heaven Too.

  • I LOVE this!!! I agree with Mr. Woods on every point and he captures the beauty of that greatest of films and performances brilliantly. THANK YOU for posting this!!

  • She was happy for the most part. And if you see all her late interviews (when she's already in her 80's) she's as charming and wonderful a woman as ever.

  • If I thought I loved James Woods before, I certainley love him even more now! He is hilarious, intelligent, talented, classic (as Hades in Hercules haha), and he seems a very respectable man. How nice to know that there are modern day actors who can appreciate those beautiful stars that came before them. Than you James Woods! Thank you so much...for everything. And Bette Davis was indeed the only one who could play that role. She was incredible- a rare talent. R.I.P. Bette
