  • Yes, it was a bucktail with a twister tail; a deadly Striper combo which is a staple used out in Montauk. An angler should retrieve one at a relatively slow to moderate rate. The idea is to work the bottom and lower water column. Reel in at 3-4 foot intervals, working the rod up, then back down with the line retrieve, bouncing it along the bottom in "semi-circular" arches, even pausing a second or two never hurts. Experiment & watch/talk with others!
