Great tv. Fine acting. The scene at 2mins 30 is similar to that of Cowley,Bodie and Doyle 15yrs later. Two agents, each with very different characters, reporting to a senior boss. RIP Edward.
Can anyone tell me which series and which episode this clip is from? Loved him all these years. Only last week I bought some of his old cd's I had missed out on, I've been catching up on some of his stuff for months now, It's as if I knew what was going to happen, yet I didn't know he was ill these past few months.
This clip is from Series 4, and is from the episode 'I Never Wanted the Job'.
He was a good singer, wasn't he - I think the performance I most enjoyed him in was in 'Breaker Morant' because he actually did get an opportunity to show off his singing voice in this.
Seasons 1 & 2 in b&w have been badly neglected, and some are not available at all. You can get copies off eBay of about half of these episodes. The coloured series 3 & 4 are available from Amazon. Series 4 is due for a release in the USA in January, 2010 (it is misleadingly labelled as Series 2). It is currently available for preorder.
Very sorry to hear about Edward Woodward's death today. Callan is still my favourite TV show ever - due mainly to Woodward's brilliant turn as the disaffected British spy. Also brilliant in Breaker Morant and the the Whicker Man. Sad day.

Hope that this helps, Nick.
