Mr. Invincible #3: Dashboard Hibachi

This was the third "Mr. Invincible" radio spot to hit the airwaves, back in the summer of 1997. The theme was a variation on "distracted driving", something that we'd already hit on with the second spot titled "Getting Dressed"; just how we wound up focusing on people who eat while while they drive- and then taking that idea to our usual extreme- I don't recall. I DO remember thinking that the idea of Mr. Invincible singing "When you drive down the road, and you see horny toads, run them over" -to the tune of "That's Amore"- was something that only a sleep-deprived mind could have come up with; in this instance, it was MY tired brain that came up with that lyric. I also recall that "Oh no! Not again!" as our hapless lead character totals his car once more was a big laugh for us as we wrote it.

"Mr. Invincible" was the focus of a hilarious series of public service announcements that were aired on Newstalk 780 KOH in Reno, Nevada. Sean McDevitt and Phil Galbraith wrote, produced and performed 51 of these traffic safety spots from 1997-2000. All 51 of these spots are now going to be gradually (re)released on You Tube.
