  • @MandalaClare THANKS for your KIND WORDS about my DVDs

I highly recommend Daniel's DVD lessons. His style of teaching fits perfectly with my style of learning. And his joy of painting is contagious. I've just finished lesson #5 and already am more authoritative with my brush strokes. My paintings are more 'painterly' AND I am having fun. I've been an artist for over 30 years. My friends and family are 'wowed' at the level this series has elevated me to. Thank you Dan!

  • @artistkeith3 I totally agree with you there are no universal truths in art and any advice I give are my ideas for my art alone and how to get better at representational art similar to mine...thanks for sharing your ideas.

  • Well said. My professors at university were about as helpful as a screen door on a submarine.

  • I agree..."there is no one way"..."you learn how to paint the way you want to paint." I sure wish I had heard this 40 years ago. I had to learn these things the hard way. Beginners would do well to get your course.

  • Feels like you are talking about my situation exactly. Thanks for this.

  • @brittanyS123 Practice, practice, practice! Try to draw everything you see--yes, including boring stilllifes. Nothing will look like you want it to in the beginning, but as you continue, and you self-critique yourself you will grow. Study other artists but don't copy. My favorite word of advice is: If you can draw/paint everything, you can draw/paint ANYTHING.

  • very insightful ...your work has a powerful presence....you hit on so many topics that most do not cover...thank you Daniel~!

  • This video is great! I'm checking out your website right now! I agree with everything you said in this video =)

  • I tried to learn art at 2 colleges. I got little to no instruction that I understood, or clarification. All i got was criticism, teachers rejecting my portfolio and repeatedly telling me to quit, as I have no talent or skill.Ultimately i was forced to quit after being humiliated in class. With a we told you so afterwards. I'm unable to buy your course but the second i can I will even if i have to collect cans. I feel that i would be more successful had I done your course instead of college.

  • Videographers are artists tooo!!!

  • Most art teachers are HACKS that don't have any skill except to have a easy job =)

    Some are good though

  • You speak the truth!!! I've never had what I would call a great art teacher. All I've learned about art I've learned through experience...

  • "Use more paint." I need this tattooed on the back of my hand. UGHHH. Great video.

  • "don't ask me why, just do this"

THIS is why there are people who are VERY WRONGLY placed in teaching positions.

It's too bad that experience happens to anyone. I had a great painting/figure drawing teacher. YAY jennifer bock-nelson! check her out!
