Would putting a smelt on the jig improve you chances?

@shdfhuasfghdskhaslbg No real trick to it that I've found. Half the time they bite when your rod is just sitting there. Maybe that's the trick... hmmmm. I jig like any other kind of ice fishing. But, I do notice sometimes they like it not moving at all. Another thing to try for sure, is different depths off the bottom. I'll catch just as many fish 50 feet up in 100 feet of water than I do down at the bottom. Use 2 rods and try one at bottom and one half way up. Good luck.

Thanks troutlover. I appreciate the nice note. Good luck if you head up there this winter. Early ice is usually pretty hot action! Cheers.

nice video buddy! I am heading out to Spray Lake tomorrow for shore fishing, any tips for a decent location?

@rividizd Hi. Thanks for the comment. Can't say that I've ever fished Spray other than ice fishing. For this video I parked on the road and walked out from the Sparrowhawk picnic area if that helps. I've heard of people having good fishing from shore in the summer, but I've not done it myself. Good luck.
