This is part 9 of the entire PBS Documentary of Jonestown: The Life and Death of Peoples Temple. Featuring never-before-seen footage, this documentary delivers a startling new look at the Peoples Temple, headed by preacher Jim Jones who, in 1978, led more than 900 members to Guyana, where he orchestrated a mass suicide via tainted punch. • I wonder why they don't teach this?

why more people don't know about it?

  • When I was younger I used to think it foolish that a group of people could become manipulated by one person to the point that they would allow themselves to be murdered. • @MoralesLiz01 I'm a teacher, and I just got some new material.

  • @MoralesLiz01 My son learned about this in his US History class. I'm sure the majority of kids won't learn about this though.

  • @MoralesLiz01 You're right, this was not taught in history class.

  • I think it was a failure because they had someone who does not have good intention and ruled the town, called Jim jones, preaching all these nonsense and eventually, ruined everyone's lives. • Think for yourselves, or someone will do it for you!

  • What an excellent documentary. Part 9 was really hard to watch, it broke my heart, but it was the way things went, anyway. Thank you @ghostdance202 for uploading it.

  • "Those who do not learn from the past are condemned to repeat it." Thank you for uploading this powerful documentary. I hope that we can all learn from this tragic event.

  • anyone thirsty?

  • I remember this being on the evening news. Had a hard time drinking Kool Aid after this event as a kid. I personally think that it should be taught in the class rooms. Kids should be made aware of all of the sick and demented people that were and are still are there in today's society.
