Chemists often look for physical changes during a reaction. But what if you can't see? That dilemma sidelines most blind students in chemistry labs, but it doesn't need to. Devices that convert visible changes into sounds can help students get their hands on chemistry.

Carmen Velez brought a dozen blind students to the University of California, San Diego, to show how these devices can help.
