The International Festival of Falconry was on the 11th and 12th of July 2009 at the Englefield Estate, Berkshire, England.
The festival was a two-day celebration of falconry around the world. Fifty nations took part with displays, parades and opportunities to learn from one another about the full range of falconry-related activities. This included breeding, training, desert culture, wildlife conservation, and leather craft.
Participation in falconry encourages interest in wider conservation activities, thereby helping to make sure that falconry is preserved for future generations. And it reminds societies where they have come from many societies relied on falconry in previous generations as a means of survival.
Over ten thousand visitors attended this fun, educational, and entertaining day out.
The Festival was hosted in the United Kingdom by the Hawk Board the umbrella body for UK falconers, and strongly supported by the Emirates Falconers Club which is kindly sponsoring attendance by many nations.

She clearly doesn't know much beyond the 'shires' lol. The festival as a convention is a fantastic event and should hopefully continue. This year's was in Abu Dhabi itself. Wonder where next years will be...

I would love to attend this festival! I am fascinated by falcons, hawks and eagles, and this would be wonderful to see. I had a friend who was learning falconry here in the States, unfortunately she passed away suddenly about 7 years ago.
