  • I've got one apart at the moment, tops of the valves looking a bit battered, but it wasn't making this much noise ! Bike looks nice enough, so give it a treat and wind them down a bit !

  • A full face helmet reduces the tappet noise substantially!

  • My 1970 T100S sounds the same. Folks with 650cc or 750cc Triumphs often think the 500cc bikes have tappet issues due to the racket, but the 500cc unit bikes just make more tappet noise, mostly due to designed-in lower oil flow and lubrication. As long as your tappets aren't loose enough for a push rod to fall out of its rocker box or cam seat, you'll do no harm.

  • My '67 T100R sounds exactly like this one.

  • Great. Tappets do sound a bit noisy though. I must get my T100R put back together one day, it's been in pieces since 1983!!

  • is that your sound system or rather loud tappets or something more ominous
