Houdini Tutorial - Blowing your image away Part 1

Transfer Image Colors to Particles

In this 3 parts video tutorial I will explain how to transfer the colors of an image to particles in Houdini, then i will talk about creating an initial state file to end up using it in a particles simulation to blow my image away.(Date: Nov 2008).

I should note that it's a lot faster to use a colormap node inside a VOPSOP, instead of the pic expression, to transfer the color from the image to the particles.

hi alisavvi, posting the whole expression would be good, because the problem is not with the D_CR, i bet there is a typo somewhere

Quote from the houdini docs:

"BBX, BBY, BBZ : Relative position of point within bounding box. Values are mapped between 0 and 1." , so we use these values to get the corresponding color from the image in the image context.

i have one problem... its taking huge time to simulate the particles after applying the color..... did I'm doing anything wrong.... but the tutorial its seems to be going smooth....in fact i'm using Z600 HP....any suggestions??

replace blah_tga with your file

D_CR does not work for me, houdini says "no matching functions" help me plz really need to get this to work..
