Castle hewson

900 year old norman keep castle 2 miles south of the Shannon river, and aprox 1 mile to the East of The town of Askeaton Co. Limerick Ireland. It was part of a ring of "lookout" castles which acted as the 1st line of defense for Desmond castle which ruins tower above the town of Askeaton to this day.

You can't see Castle Hewson from the road.

@BettyBetBet , Up to the mid 80's the property was mostly forested. It was impossible to see the place until you drove/walked into the yard. My wish is to return the enchanted forest.

Hi, we were there in 2003 and met our cousins (the Hewsons) and spent the day and night there. It was very exciting as my Mom had been talking about "our" castle since I was a little girl.

Hmm...this looks like a castle not too far from Adare/Limerick we spotted on the side of the road.Well, it was just a small ruin. Felt spooky inside as it hadn't been restored much.
