Just a video I've done for someone on a forum showing how you can use Phase Inversion + the instrumental & the vocal mix of a song to cancel out parts and leave you with a DIY accapella.

I don't go much into the theory on how phase inversion does this little trick, but it involves 'destructive interference', so basically flipping the phase of the instrumental or vocal mix and playing them together. Because the 'phase' of the Instrumental mix is exactly opposite to the phase of the Vocal mix, the same elements that both tracks share are 'phased out'. Because the vocal is only on one track and therefore has nothing to phase it out, it is left at the forefront of the song.

To get Audacity, follow this link:

If you want to know more I'm sure a quick google search on 'constructive/ destructive interference in sound waves' will give you something.

The remix I used as an example at the start can be grabbed for free in by following this link to its own video. Cheers for watching :)
