Kottayam: Justice (Retd.) K.T. Thomas has said that the media should act responsibly to revive and safeguard a vulnerable democracy.
Inaugurating the convocation ceremony of the journalism and the photojournalism courses of the Kottayam Press Club School of Journalism on oct 20 2010, Mr. Thomas said, "Despite the judiciary being considered the protectors of democracy, it is the media that voice public opinion. As a result, they have a huge role in upholding the democratic fabric of the nation".
He said massive strides have been made in mass communication during the past 50 years.
These advancements have enabled easy access to news by the people.
He also distributed certificates to students who completed the courses.
School Director Thekinkad Joseph; Press Club secretary Jacob. K. Eapen; and treasurer S. Sanilkumar spoke on the occasion.
