Silver Platter Presented to Roy McMillan Cincinnati Reds Most Valuable Player
for 1956. Presented by The Cincinnati Chapter of the Baseball Writers Association Of America. The 1956 Reds tied a major league record at the time with 221 home runs. Roy only hit (3) that season but led the way with his defense to win the team MVP award. Roy finished 6th in the National League in league MVP voting. The team had a impressive list of stars, Wally Post, Frank Robinson & Gus Bell in the outfield, Ray Jablonski & Alex Grammas shared 3rd base, Roy at short, Johnny Temple at 2nd, Ted Kluszewski at 1st & Ed Bailey catching. The team was run by fan favorite Manager Birdie Tebbets and finished 3rd in the National League with 91 wins. Frank Robinson won rookie of the year with 38 home runs and went on to have a incredible career and was voted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1982.

  • I want to know what happened to Ted Kluszewski and the clubhouse brawl that ended his career from that year? Was it a brawl? I mean who would fight with Ted?
