United Nations, New York, 22 February 2010 - The United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) held a Special Event on Philanthropy and the Global Public Health Agenda organized jointly by the Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA) and the United Nations Office for Partnerships, in collaboration with the Committee Encouraging Corporate Philanthropy and the World Health Organization. The programme was held on International Corporate Philanthropy Day.

Those present included, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, H.E. Mr. Ban Ki-moon, Her Grace Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York , Inés Alberdi, Executive Director, United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM), Mary P. Quinn, Senior Manager, Avon Foundation for Women, Geena Davis, Academy Award-winning actor and philanthropist.
