Permanent Magnet Axial Flux Alternator - This was my first experiment with home energy production. This eventually turned into a VAWT. It consisted of NeoDym N42 Magnets (1"D x 1/4"H) on each side of the rotor with 4 coils of 300 turns. It turns on a bearing from an old wheelbarrow. Its very rudimentary, but it was my first. Gotta love it.

  • Two 1/8" x 1" NeoDy on each of the four corners. I tried to use brass screws and plastic as much as possible to hold the plexiglass/coil mounts together so I would not slow down the rotor by adding additional magnetic material.
