This is a video of the 2nd annual "Ask An Atheist" event at Minnesota State University in Mankato. Campus Atheists and Agnostics put this on back in April 2009. The 7 panelists are just students who happen to not believe in god, so we are by no means experts. We dont expect to speak for every atheist, just ourselves. The point of this event was to get people on our campus, in our community, and now the world to get to know us as regular people. We are your friends, family, neighbors, doctors, teachers, waiters, clerks, and maybe even your kids. I hope you enjoy our Ask An Atheist event.

Great idea for an event guys! Our group does a similar thing called "Ask a Freethinker", but we conduct our event in a less formal format. I think we might have to try this idea soon. Just curious, what video did you play for the audience?

Trista: "Okay, sorry for the delay... Welcome to Ask an Atheist. Hopefully you are here for us and not Brother Ali because if you are here for Brother Ali you are going to think this concert sucks"

Well yes, it's true that none of us in this video are teachers (yet). Some of us are on our way.
Our "regularity" isn't supposed to overwhelm nor excite you. That's the point; we're not really that different from anyone else.
And I don't know if you should be accusing me of not helping you in any way, because I don't recall you ever doing anything for me either. :)

You guys are not like, my, teachers. My teachers are not students. You have not helped me in any way, you are not my friends. Though it is very likely you are my clerks, waiters and neighbors, your "regularity" does not overwhelm nor excite me. You do not love and care for me, but "we are brothers and sisters and sons and daughters and fathers and mothers" in Christ.
Be very aware, that claiming to be something you so clearly are not, just makes you sound and act like any normal liar does.
